Perfect old fashioned chocolate fudge- beginners luck?

Craving chocolate, but having none in the house, I decided to try my hand at making fudge. The first few recipes I found called for marshmallow fluff or corn syrup. Preferring simple, healthy(ish) ingredients, I was delighted when I finally found this recipe for old-fashioned chocolate fudge.

I did some research, and read so many warnings about home made fudge either not setting up properly or crystalizing... either way, being ruined.
So I was pretty nervous. But I really wanted fudge.
I followed the directions carefully, although I added a few extra pinches of salt, and sprinkled large grained salt on top. The hardest part was not stirring while it heated.
It turned out perfectly, and so delicious. My family gobbled it up before I could do a proper photoshoot of it.
This may have been beginner's luck... so I'm going to make a few more batches today to test.
